Big Buck’s set for Cleeve Hurdle

Willie Mullins Mourad will bid to upset Big Buck's in the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham on Saturday.

Big Buck’s will take on five runners in tomorrow’s Grade Two Cleeve Hurdle as he bids to win his 15th race in a row.

The Paul Nicholls trained nine year old has dominated the world of horse racing in the past few years and has never looked back at his unseating in the 2008 Hennessy.

Big Buck’s attempts to win his fourth World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March and trainer Paul Nicholls believes that his run tomorrow in the Cleeve Hurdle will help him benefit ahead of the World Hurdle in March.

Trainer Paul Nicholls said “He looked better than ever when winning the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot last time out.”

As an owner, Andy Stewart must be blessed to own such a talented superstar but the question may be asked will Big Buck’s be ever defeated?

Willie Mullins sends over Mourad tomorrow to try and end Big Buck’s winning streak. Mourad will be ridden by Willie’s nephew Danny and it is a big ask but after finishing just four lengths behind Big Buck’s last March, the seven-year-old ran out of his skin when second to Quevega at Punchestown in May.

Mourad has also finished runner up to the classy mare Voler La Vedette on two occasions. Another horse that may prove a challenge to Big Buck’s is the David Pipe trained Dynaste.

According to David Pipe, Dynaste will be ridden different tomorrow after he tried to stretch Big Buck’s in the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot but could only manage fourth in the end.

Big Buck’s stable mate Five Dreams also takes his chance and trainer Paul Nicholls was very impressed when he finished second to Big Buck’s last time out at Ascot.

Restless Harry and the Donald McCain trained Across The Bay make up the six runner field in tomorrows Grade Two Hurdle at Cheltenham.
