The John Halley trained gelding tracked the leaders in third on the inner over three furlongs out, switched to the outer making progress two furlongs out, travelled well moving into second inside the final furlong, staying on well to lead close to home, crossing the line first by three quarters of a length from runner up Littletown Lass.

Third place went to the strong finishing Optic Measure, while race favourite Anderson Mcauley had nothing left in the tank placing fourth.

John Halley was not present to congratulate his winner, but his representative, head lad Harry Kelly said, “John couldn’t make it. I think he is attending a horse with colic.

“He’s the last horse Mick Aherne bought.”

“It’s nice to win at the local track. He’ll get one more run and then we’ll put him away as he’s a summer horse.

“We’ll mind him and pick a few little races for him. He’s still growing. This was a lucky track for Mick and that’s for him.”
