Derek Nadin’s No.1 Lay System Preview
Derek Nadin’s No.1 Lay System comes in ebook format and is available from Sportsworld Publishing for the stonking, in my opinion, price of £125. Naturally from its title, it is a laying system.
There is however the saying, “You only get what you pay for”, so what exactly do you get for your £125……..
Well at first glance it has to said, not a lot! Just 5 pages to be precise.
Page 1 is the cover, with the System name and a small picture on it.
Page 2 is actually the system itself, there are a total of 11 rules.
Pages 3, 4 and 5 go through an example for you, well actually it just helps to explain 5 of the 11 rules.
That’s it, just one page of meat for your £125.
So does it work?
Well currently I don’t know. I have had the system in my possession for 9 days now, and so far it has thrown up just 1 selection, which I am pleased to report lost.
I guess this is what you would describe as a niche system, it is highly focussed, concentrating on just 3 courses, Lingfield, Southwell and Wolverhampton. Perhaps oddly, turf racing at Lingfield is included.
The instruction is to use either the Sun newspaper, or the Racing Post website. I have no idea why, as I am convinced the information required to make the selections is available in any daily newspaper or horse racing website.
Bizarrely, rule No 1 says “Bet all year round (except May and June)” Excuse me? Is “All year round” not 12 months of the year?
Most of the rules are fairly familiar, although one rule actually excludes a specific jockey, which I must confess I don’t think I have ever come across before. The final rule sets the parameters of the Betfair odds needed for the selection to actually become a bet. There is NO reference to having to check live markets, so presumably you can go ahead a place your bets at any time.
The claims for this system are extremely impressive. From 74 bets this year, there have been just 3 winners, at an average price of 7.17. Therefore a Strike Rate of 96%, and a profit, by my calculations, of almost 49pts. It is also claimed the system had just 7 winning selections in the whole of 2009.
With a maximum Betfair price of 17.0, it may not be for the faint hearted, but a strike rate of 96% may be enough to overcome such reservations.
It is suggested that the system produces approx 15-20 bets per month, obviously at this time of year the number of selections will be at their lowest, and should increase as we move into the winter period.
All the rules are straightforward, there is nothing subjective about any of them, and all users should easily come up with exactly the same selections in a very short time, I would estimate 10 mins per day maximum, when there is racing at the relevant course’s.
Because this is not going to be the busiest system in the world, and we really do need to get into the AW racing season to get any meaningful results, I am quite happy to make the testing of this system ongoing, and I see no reason why we couldn’t track this one right round to next May.
Finally, for anyone who can’t be bothered to find their own selections, a tipping service is available. Once again this seems vastly overpriced at £40 per month, given that so far this year there has been an average of 2.3 selections per week!
So it is very much a case of watch this space. I will update as soon as anything meaningful has happened.

Good luck,
Gordon
