Dream Weekend for Heffernan

Jockey Seamus Heffernan enjoyed a successful weekend and mount Anshan Dreams topped it off with a victorious result in the Oriel Handicap at Dundalk.

Trained by Adrian Maguire the gelding was travelling well on the inner when entering the straight, moved into second, challenging Keelaghan, battling it out to take the lead inside the final furlong, kept on well to record a tough contended victory by half a length.

Heffernan’s weekend of success started when mount Cape Blanco scored a victory with a good performance in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday.

“Seamie gave him a fantastic ride. He had a little feel of him on a couple of runs beforehand,” said the winning trainer Maguire after the race.

“He’s a horse that’s waiting to go hurdling but I just need to mind him as he had a little bit of leg trouble in the past.”
