Grangecon Stud Stakes(Listed Stakes)

The juvenile fillies get their chance to shine on Sunday when the Grangecon Stud Stakes is one of the feature races at headquarters.

Meow looks the filly to be on here having only been narrowly touched off in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot last time. Johnny Murtagh retains the ride on the David Wachman trained filly and clearly sets the standard on the formbook.

Lightening Thief from the Willie McCreery yard looks the chief danger in the contest and if the forecast rain arrives she would be the one to be on eachway. McCreery has made an excellent start to his training career and looks one to follow. Particularly impressive has been his ability to improve cast offs from other stables.

Moonlit Garden could be interesting in first time blinkers as her trainer, Dermot Weld, has a great record with inmates wearing headgear for the first time. Although having plenty to find with Meow on the formbook, she should not be discounted from calculations.

Summary: Meow is the form filly and should prove difficult to beat. On soft ground Lightening Thief could be the eachway value.
