Tiilahow won the 2011 Visit Punchestown.com Juvenile Hurdle

Hi everyone, I’m back once again with the latest stats and trends relating to the week’s upcoming action.
Mal Boyle has just filed his latest report, looking at the meetings at Fairyhouse, Dundalk, Punchestown and Navan. The biggest races of the week are Saturday’s 2.25 at Punchestown: the Visit Punchestown.com Juvenile Hurdle and also Sunday’s 3.30 at Navan: the Foxrock Handicap Chase.

WEDNESDAY 11/01:

Fairyhouse:

General stats: Prunella Dobbs is a trainer that British readers might not be familiar with but the trainer has saddled four winner via fourteen runners at Fairyhouse in recent times and her potential outsider Clifton Pier (3.10) might be worth an each way saver on Wednesday.

12.30: Four favourites have prevailed via seven renewals whilst five-year-olds have claimed three of the last five contests.

1.00: Market leaders have prevailed in three of the last four renewals whilst the one that got away ran behind a 5/2 winner.  Six-year-olds have won five of the last seven contests.

1.30: Seven and eight-year-olds have equally shared six of the last seven renewals.  Favourites have won four of the seven events thus far, the biggest priced winner having been returned at 7/1.

3.10: Only one favourite has prevailed during the last decade with five gold medallists returned in double figures (stats include three 20/1 winners).  Seven-year-olds have secured four of the last seven contests.

3.40: Willie Mullins has two entries in the finale, a race he has won three times in the last five years.  Favourites (of one description or another) come the party on a six-timer, whilst five-year-olds have secured four of the seven renewals.

FRIDAY 13/01:

Dundalk:

General stats: Course winner Gaiety Theatre is James Ryan’s only intended runner on the card, the trainer having won with three of his ten runners at the track to date.

This is a new meeting whereby no trends are (unfortunately) in place at Dundalk on Friday.

SATURDAY 14/01:

Punchestown:

General stats: Island Wood is the only Michael Winters runner during the entire week at a venue where the trainer boasts figure of 2/4.

Two and a half mile Beginners Chase scheduled for 12.45: Willie Mullins held four options at the time of writing in a race in which he has trained two of the three winners.  Willie saddled the bronze medallist in the year that ‘got away’ from the trainer.

Two and a half mile memorial hurdle event scheduled for 1.55.  Seven-year-olds have secured five of the last seven renewals during which time, five favourites have prevailed.  The biggest priced winner during the study period was returned at just 3/1.

Juvenile hurdle scheduled for 2.25: Only one market leader has scored during the last decade though that said, the biggest priced winner was returned at 8/1.

Two and a half mile handicap hurdle scheduled for 3.35: Six of the seven winners carried weights of 11-2 or less.

INH flat race scheduled for 4.05: Favourites have secured five of the last six contests.

SUNDAY 15/01:

Navan:

General stats: Course winner Jack The Bus potentially represents trainer Peter Casey who has saddled four winners from nineteen runners at Navan, producing an LSP figure of eleven points in the process.  Otherwise, this is yet another track where Willie Mullins rules the roost.

Two mile ‘Facebook’ hurdle event scheduled for 1.30: Favourites have won three of the six renewals to date during which time, the biggest priced winner was returned at 5/1.

Two mile seven furlong maiden contest scheduled for 2.00: Six-year-olds have won five of the six renewals during which time, favoruites have won three contests.

INH flat race scheduled for 4.00: Willie Mullins has saddled two of the three renewals and Raise Hell was Willie’s only potential runner at the five day stage.
