Your action this week comes from Sligo, Wexford , Leopardstown and Limerick before the weekend is rounded off at Down Royal.
Mal Boyle has taken his usual close look at the race-cards to identify the relevant stats and trends to guide us through the week.
TUESDAY 19/06:
Sligo:
General stats: John Joseph Murphy is a popular name in dispatches this week and it’s worth noting his 5/19 record here on the level at Sligo. His 26% strike rate reads well alongside John’s level stake profit figure of twenty nine points into the bargain.
WEDNESDAY 20/06:
Wexford:
General stats: It’s not often that Willie Mullins plays second fiddle to other trainers when statistics are the order of the day but with Michael Hourigan (6/11) and Noel Meade (7/19) boasting such figures, it’s only fair to give them the shout when appropriate.
THURSDAY 21/06:
Leopardstown:
General stats: John Oxx saddled a 23/1 double (6/1 & 7/2) at last year’s corresponding meeting. The first six favourites on the card were beaten (including those at 2/9 and 4/6) before the 15/8 market leader prevailed in the finale.
FRIDAY 22/06:
Down Royal:
General stats: The opening race on last year’s corresponding card was won by the 4/5 favourite, though just one other (joint) market leader obliged at the meeting at odds of 9/4. The other winners on the card were sent off at 20/1-16/1-7/1-6/1-7/2.
Limerick:
General stats: John Joseph Murphy saddled a 254/1 double (16/1 & 14/1) on last year’s corresponding card and unsurprisingly, the trainer held four options for Friday’s meeting.
SATURDAY 23/06:
Down Royal:
General stats: John Oxx saddled a 7/1 double last year at the corresponding meeting via two successful favourites which obliged at 100/30 and 9/10. These were the only two market leaders which prevailed on the seven race card, though the biggest priced winner was returned at just 13/2.
