MUSSELBURGH:

12.40: Scorpo – 33/1 – Scorpo (Hills/Marathon)

Two snippets for 12/1 & 80/1 chances this afternoon at Cheltenham….hoping that you played Kings Odyssey at 25/1 (returned at 14/1) yesterday to each way effect.  We were a shade unfortunate not to be rewarded with place money on Kemboy in the opening event which I put up at 20/1 at 5.00 via the MMA service – finished fourth (as all good each way investments (seemingly) do at 15/2….Laid Mall Dini off at even money in running in the final event having offered the horse at 11/2 – It’s still not the same as winning though – beaten half a length.  Upwards and onward today….

I have been waiting for this horse to run again…. Ok Corral who represents Nicky Henderson, boasts a 3/5 record in this country to date.  Unexposed as an eight year old and a winner of two of those three events on soft ground,  Ok Corral was hailed as a terrific horse in the making a few years ago and now is the time for the horse to repay connections for their patience – big time.

A general 12/1 chance almost across the board this morning, Barry Geraghty’s mount in my man player on Friday, without a shred of doubt.  You don’t hear yours truly talking like this very often.

Small word for an 80/1 chance (minimum stakes) with each way claims given that Skybet are offering each way terms of five places in the Gold Cup….Saphir Du Rheu is the outsider in question in what amounts to another ‘decent handicap’, masquerading as the Gold Cup at 3.30 (which the race had done for several years now) – unless Might Bite turns out to be the real deal.

Average Placepot dividend: £573.36

Leading trainers at the corresponding meeting during the study period:

Unfortunately, the leading trainer Dan Skelton (on the four winner mark) is not represented today.  There are five names of the two winner mark, the pick of which might prove to be Brian Ellison who saddles two runners on the card; Smart Talk (3.55) & Bordeaux Bill (5.30).  I nominate Brian above the others given that the trainer saddled his first runner in the Gold Cup (Definitly Red), yet has found the time to create these chances for two of his other inmates.

LINGFIELD:

33 races – 14 winning favourites – 30/33 winners scored at a top price of 10/1

Average Placepot dividend: £112.58

Highest dividend: £400.90 (2015) – Lowest dividend: £9.50 (2016)

Leading trainers at the corresponding meeting during the study period:

The only one of four trainers on the two winner mark represented today is Michael Appleby who saddled two big outsiders tonight; Ramblow (8.15) & Indigo Princess (8.45)
