Apologies for not having been back to you since Tuesday but my COPD condition was really bad this week – that’s what you get for relaxing after taking a weekend break I guess!
As usual on Friday/Saturday/Sunday, the bulk of my stats can be found via my column for sporting life.com today – the link will be offered via my Twitter page, hopefully by 9.30 this morning (timing is out of my control having sent the work at 6.30).
I have not been idling away this week with the onset of the Flat season upon us next weekend though as far as these three forthcoming days are concerned, things are a little up in the air as this was Easter weekend twelve months ago whereby corresponding meetings go out of the window.
David Barron has four runners at Newcastle tonight where he is the leading trainer since the end of January on the six winner mark. All four of David’s decent priced runners are worth a second glance though unfortunately, two of them clash in the 8.15 contest, namely Melonade & Darvie. David’s earlier runners on the card are Money Team (6.15) & Magical Molly Joe (7.45).
By the way, don’t go thinking that this could be a ‘last hurrah’ for David in terms of his A/W runners this winter. His aggregate March/April A/W stats last year were 7/19 before his runners tend to show decent form on turf from May onward. David’s comparable turf form during March/April was 2/29, though he did saddle a 16/1 winner ‘early doors’ last year.
I have all the ‘early season’ stats from last year at each course at my disposal so as long as my health stands up to ‘vet inspection’, we should start backing winners early in April on a regular basis, quite apart from in form trainer details etc.
Talking of in form trainers leads to to offering a mention for Chris Gordon who has performed so well for us during the last few weeks. Eight of his last twelve runners have won and he has two engaged at Newbury this afternoon, namely Howlongisafoot (2.30) & Ballyheigue Bay (3.05).
Four of Richard Fahey’s last 13 have scored though he is not represented today. Richard has four on the go tomorrow at Meydan, Lingfield and Wolverhampton – watch this space.
David Evans has saddled winners at 20/1, 16/1 & 7/2 this week (since Monday) and he has three at Lingfield today…..
Be lucky but as ever, be aware!
