Mal Boyle Stats – Monday 31st

Excellent day yesterday for the Daily Stats column with 7/17 runners winning, producing level stake profits of 15 points.

It is crucial to get the bookmaker’s money in the bank on the lead up to a Festival of racing which in this instance of course is ‘Glorious Goodwood’ which starts tomorrow , notwithstanding the Galway meeting which commences this evening.

See the Galway pointers at the foot of today’s column!

A few pointers for Galway tonight (I’m obliged to Dean Baines for pointing out the fact that Dermot Weld’s runners invariably have to be taken into consideration at this Festival):

5.20: Dermot Weld saddles Aydoun having claimed five of the last 12 renewals of the contest.  That said, Willie Mullins (Nessun Dorma) comes to the gig on a four timer.

5..55: We still await the first successful favourite following three contests.

6.25: Dermot has saddled eight of the last eleven winners but is not represented this year – can we determine that Medal Of Honour is ‘passed the post’ accordingly?

7.05: Rich History (Dermot Weld) qualifies via the superior weight stats which inform that 10 of the last 11 winners have carried a minimum burden of 9-5.

7.40: Ezanak & Zayafan represent Dermot in the race having saddled four of the last ten winners, though I feel duty bound to inform that six-year-olds have claimed six of the last eleven contests.

8.10: Favourites come to the party on a hat trick, whilst five of the last six winners have scored at a top price of 11/2.

8.40: Distribution attempts to become Dermot’s fourth winner of the finale in the last 13 years.  Four-year-olds lead the five-year-olds 6-5 via the last 12 renewals.

Be lucky but as ever, be aware!
