Jockeys:

Richard Johnson has been the top jockey at the meeting four times since 1990, recording the highest number of winners in one year, a total of seven in 2014. Richard is tied on 26 winners during the extended study period with Ruby Walsh.

Details on day one:

12.40: Only one (joint) favourite has won during the last eleven renewals though that said, the biggest priced winner since 2004 was returned at 14/1. David Pipe has saddled three winners during the last six years.

1.15: Four-year-olds have won five of the last eight contests.  Only one favourite has won during the last nine renewals.  Between 2002 & 2007, all six races were won by the market leaders.  Five of the last six winners have carried a minimum weight of eleven stones.

1.50: The last three gold medallists have scored in double figures (25/1, 14/1 & 10/1), though the previous eleven winners had scored at a top price of 9/1.  Eight-year-olds have five of the last six contests.

2.25: For cynics of facts and stats, I should point out that six-year-olds have won ten of the last eleven renewals of this Novice Chase, results which could hardly be termed as coincidental! Although only one favourite has prevailed during the last five years, five of the last thirteen contests have been won by market leaders. Indeed, the last seven winners have scored at a top price of 9/2.

3.00: Enda Bolger has saddled six of the last twelve winners of this event which was not run last year due to unsuitable ground. The last seven winners have scored at a top price of 9/2, statistics which include four winning favourites.

3.35: Although five renewal have slipped by since the last winning favourite was recorded, 26/27 renewals since 1990 have been secured by horses returned in single figures at a top price of 8/1. Five-year-olds have won nine of the last eleven contests, the other renewals have been secured by six-year-olds within the last three years.
