Mal Boyle Stats – Thursday 28th

Wednesday’s school report:

3 MMA WINNERS at 14/1 (returned at 6/1), 2/1 (11/10) & 15/8 (13/8) – three others were placed at 10/1 (13/2), 6/1 (11/4) & 11/2 (10/3).  Horses which were beaten that were backed of the boards included those at 33/1 (12/1), 7/1 (5/2), 7/1 (3/1) & 9/4 (11/10).

A nice 7/1 two-year-old winner was mentioned in dispatches but we are still having to wait for our luck to totally change – which it will.  We went part of the way yesterday but there is lots more to come….!

CORRESPONDING STATS FROM LAST YEAR RELATING TO THE TWO VENUES WHICH START THEIR THREE DAY MEETINGS TODAY:

NEWMARKET:

21 races – 7 winning favourites – All 21 winners scored at a top price of 10/1

The only trainer who saddled two winners over the course of the three days on the July course last year was Ralph Beckett (10/3* & 5/2).  Ralph saddles Prevent (2.40) today before possible runners there on Saturday (no entries tomorrow)

NEWCASTLE:

22 races – 8 winning favourites – 21/22 winners scored at 10/1 or less

Four trainers managed a brace of winners during the three days twelve months ago, the pick of which was arguably Jedd O’Keefe who landed a 186/1 double on the Friday last year (16/1 & 10/1),  Jedd has four entered at Gosforth Park today; Dream Poet (3.05), Shared Equity (4.50) & Cocktail & Saisons D’Or (5.20).  Instant Attraction (6.55) is Jedd’s only potential runner there on Friday.

TWO YEAR OLD NOTES:

1.40 Newmarket:

Tom Clover was fulsome in his praise of Celcius via a stable tour back in the spring and plenty of money has come for the Dragon Pulse colt early doors this morning.  Quanah is any price you like this morning, probably on account of ‘sore shins’ which set him back in his work a few months back.  Worth noting for the future I’ll wager, possibly with a ‘Nursery touch’ landed along the way.

2.20 Nottingham:

James Fanshawe’s Raven’s Pass newcomer Keyhaven would probably not have to be anything out of the ordinary to win in this grade/company and the early 10/1 quote proved a tad too big for yours truly to resist, albeit to very moderate stakes.

2.30 Newcastle:

A mimimum each way wager on Ateescomponent might be the way to play this event if you must have a bet, given that the likely winner Amadeus Grey is too skinny for this ‘working man’ to consider.

3.05 Newcastle:

You were probably in the land of nod when the money started arriving for Archie Watson’s newcomer Federal Law who was a 13/2 option for those who suffer insomnia.  Some ‘illnesses’ possess a positive factor and hopefully this is a case in point today.

6.10 Leicester:

Just the four runners go to post for this Novice event which was contested by the same number of entries twelve months ago. Motafaaawit was withdrawn on account of the fast ground at Salisbury yesterday whereby we could land up with just three contenders this evening.  Upwards and onward in positive mode however by suggesting that trainer Richard Hannon might chance his luck here with just three rivals to beat, the pick of which is undoubtedly Mark Johnston’s Nayef Galileo colt Nayef Road, albeit a distance of ground will eventually bring out the best in the late (May) foal.

6.30 Hamilton:

The current 4/1 quote about Howzer Black makes some appeal I guess, though I will probably let the race go by without an interest unless in the position of playing up earlier winnings on the day should that scenario pan out.  Even if a good day is in the making, stakes would be kept to a minimum.
