Mal Boyle Stats – Wednesday 20th

  • Interesting news coming on the World Cup front in that Portugal are on the slide for their match with Morocco at 1.30 and so (to a fashion) are Spain against Iran!
  • Portugal were 4/7 yesterday but can now be backed at 8/11 – Spain were 1/5 yesterday and are now 2/7 in a place…

MAL BOYLE STATS – WEDNESDAY 20TH JUNE

Tuesday’s school report:

I don’t intend to hide behind yesterday’s solitary 11/4 MMA winner and quote hard luck stories along the way.  It was not good enough and nobody knows that better than me.

I always look to be positive by suggesting that Wednesday is another day, with the board washed clean.

Before doing that though, we had winners at 9/2 & 5/6 in the two-year-old sector, notwithstanding a 14/1 runner up in the Coventry Stakes.  Throw in a 24/1 forecast via the two horses mentioned where the winner scored at 9/2, and things weren’t too bad on the two-year-old front.

The away meetings proved a big hit however, with the top three trainers listed securing a 303/1 four-timer for Mark Johnston and winners for Richard Fahey (14/1) and Keith Dalgleish (4/1).

A couple of places down the list found Tim Essterby chipping in with a 9/2 gold medallist and Mick Channon scoring with a 7/2 chance.

The rest of the day had started so well with runner ups at Royal Ascot at 22/1 & 14/1 in the first two races – but I’m not going to dwell on ifs and maybes…

So there it is – ready for Wednesday in positive mode – I was was working on this front before two o’clock this morning (as fellow early birds will testify) whereby my positive hat is tied on tight – hoping you are with me on that score!

TWO YEAR OLD NOTES:

1.40 & 2.10 Hamilton:

The two Hamilton juvenile events are bypassed today with nothing standing out from the crowd in either heat, despite the cramped odds on offer the the respective market leaders.

2.30: Royal Ascot:

Although the case for the front pair is compelling enough, the interesting horse (given the prices on offer) from my viewpoint is Kurious who stems from the brilliant line of the Australian sire Exceed And Excel.  The sire won sprint races at Group level down under and having scored at the first time of asking, Henry Candy’s Sandown winner is offered up under each way terms.

6.10 Chelmsford:

Money is coming in for Water Diviner, though that was not until after five o’clock this morning and with some of Richard Hannon’s youngsters needing a run this season, modest stakes are recommended if the support is sustained throughout the day.

7.20 Ripon:

Ginvincible might not be the worst outsider you can consider today at 22/1 which is offered in the dead of night with Skybet who guarantee better odds if that scenario unfolds.  A minimum stake each way play might be the way to play the race, especially if you are holding the oppositions money after the first day of the royal meeting.
