CHELTENHAM 2018:

TRAINERS WHO HAVE SADDLED PLACED HORSES AT THE CHELTEHAM FESTIVAL IN THE LAST FIVE YEARS WHICH WERE RETURNED AT 16/1 OR MORE.

Nearly all punters can recall trainers who have saddled winners at fancy prices but placed horses (no matter how well they pay) are forgotten like yesterday’s fish n chip wrappers as the old saying goes.  Investors forget to their potential cost (particularly from a Placepot perspective) whereby I am offering the relevant stats in total and then in race by race order form – for your convenience!

TUESDAY:

Totals (trainers with more than one relevant placed horse at 16/1 or more):

3—Henry De Bromhead (3 at 25/1)

2—David Pipe (80/1 & 16/1)

2—Willie Mullins (33/1 & 20/1)

2—Nicky Henderson (33/1 & 16/1

Race by race (remember – these stats relate to ‘overlooked’ placed horses):

‘Supreme Novices’ (1.30): Just one horse has reached the frame at the relevant odds during the last five years – A 25/1 chance saddled by Henry De Bromhead

‘Arkle’ (2.10): Five qualifiers: David Pipe (80/1) – Tom George (33/1) – Mouse Morris (33/1) – Neil Mulholland (33/1) – Henry De Bromhead (25/1)

Festival Chase (2.50): Seven qualifiers: Nick Gifford (33/1) – Nicky Henderson (33/1) – Evan Williams (33/1) – Henry De Bromhead (25/1) – David Pipe (16/1) – Lucinda Russell (16/1) – Ian Williams (16/1)

Champion Hurdle (3.30): Three qualifiers: Willie Mullins (20/1) – Nicky Henderson (16/1) – John Quinn (16/1)

Mares Hurdle (4.10): Six qualifiers: Jessica Harrington (66/1) – Stuart Crawford (40/1) – Nick Williams (40/1) – E Clayeux (33/1) – Alan King (25/1) – Harry Fry (16/1)

National Hunt Chase (4.50): Amazingly only two qualifiers!: Warren Greatrex (50/1) & Willie Mullins (33/1)

Novice Handicap Chase (5.30): Five qualifiers: Nigel Twiston-Davies (66/1) – Alan Fleming (33/1) – Dr Richard Newland (33/1) – Brian M McMahon (22/1) – Colin Tizzard (16/1)

These stats should give you an indication of which races could put you ‘ahead of the game’ – particularly from a Placepot perspective.

Thousands of investors will look to a race like the National Hunt Chase which will look as competitive as ever – but the clues (using the stats) are there for you to take advantage of misplaced perceptions in recent years.

Tomorrow’s work will relate to the second day of the Festival.  I will then offer Thursday’s findings on Sunday and the Gold Cup meeting stats on Monday.

To whet your appetite for tomorrow, one trainer has saddled four placed horses at 20/1 or more in one race within the last five years – see you bright and early on Thursday though hopefully, without this migraine or whatever the damn problem is!

Be lucky of course but as ever – Be aware!
