Call Me Ginger arrives here seeking three victories on the bounce and it might take a good horse to stop him in his tracks. He won this very race 12 months ago and is only 2lb higher in the weights now, so he has to go close. The big danger could be former course and distance winner King’s Lynn, who was a Group 2 winner early last season. If he can bounce back from a below par effort in the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood, he’s a big player.

Spycatcher has a very progressive profile this season and has to take all the beating in this dropping down in grade. Karl Burke’s gelding won a conditions race at Thirsk on his seasonal reappearance and won a Group 3 in France before losing by a nose in a French Group 1 when last seen. John & Thady Gosden’s Audience won a Newmarket Group 3 in July and goes here off the back of a big run at York so he is the biggest threat.

Frankie Dettori was due to ride Gregory until the weather changed, and with soft ground in play now, he has switched allegiances over to Arrest and that is a tip in itself. Arrest won a Chester Vase on heavy ground so conditions have come right for him. With doubts surrounding plenty of his rivals with regard to ground, he is the most likely winner. Aidan O’Brien’s Continuous is the one who can follow him home in the hands of Ryan Moore to fill the exacta.
