LeoVegas is one of the most well-known online casinos, but part of their service includes a big sportsbook too.

LeoVegas originated from Sweden and can boast more than a decade of experience in online gaming. They are an award-winning operator. Operated by LeoVegas Gaming PLC, they are a licensed and regulated bookmaker and are the main brand product of the company, which also has many sister sites.

LeoVegas Strengths and weaknesses

Moving on in this LeoVegas sport review, let’s break down some of the key strengths and weaknesses:

User-friendly design and interface

A noticeable thing we found for this LeoVegas sport review is that their pages are quick to load. It’s a fresh clean design that’s uncluttered and simple.

Good mobile betting app

We don’t necessarily want to stay tied down to computers for betting, so appreciate good betting apps. The LeoVegas app feels very lightweight, loads markets quickly and is a solid and simple platform.

Quick deposit options

LeoVegas has a decent variety of payment options, which is a good thing in our opinion. Having a backup source can be a handy thing. The minimum deposit is €10.

Live betting pages are fast to load

In-play options are a key component of betting sites. So it’s good to have a platform that returns fast market updates and decent bet variety, which is exactly what you get at LeoVegas.

Main site navigation is poor

There definitely could be a big chunk of improvement made to the LeoVegas sport Ireland site navigation. The lack of menu-driven options makes this a weaker area.

Lack of features

For this LeoVegas sport review, we found some features like live-streaming missing. This isn’t likely to be a dealbreaker for everyone, but many punters will probably expect to see more on this front.

No Horse Racing

There’s no horse racing betting on the platform. This is a mark against the operator, and it will alienate some Irish punters.

Promotions are mostly casino-based

The welcome bonus is decent at LeoVegas, but if you are looking for deeper value through promotions, you are likely to come up short.

LeoVegas Review

Getting into the meat of this LeoVegas sport review, here are the main takeaways:

Sportsbook odds

The sportsbook has some competitive odds and bookmaker margins in it.

That was mostly noticeable on the bigger football markets where they stood up pretty well against others.

But across the board on the likes of tennis and golf, odds were competitive but nothing spectacular.

Along with no live-streaming, there is another glaring omission from the LeoVegas sportsbook – horse racing. There’s none available, nor greyhounds.

Welcome Bonus

We liked the LeoVegas welcome bonus except for having to go and claim it in ‘My Offers’.

It would have been nice to have it automatically applied instead of needing that step, as it’s something that you could miss.

But for the €10 minimum first stake, €30 in free bets is a good return. The fact that it’s 3x€10 free bets makes it better.

Live Betting

The live betting pages at LeoVegas are simple to use. There are no heavy graphics to slow anything up, which is ideal for in-play wagers.

We have seen a larger volume of in-play coverage and bet variety at other bookmakers, but what is at LeoVegas covers the basics nicely.

Promotions

Promotions are a contentious area. We enjoy looking around for any deals that can boost betting value, but they are much harder to come by for sports betting than the casino at LeoVegas. A better balance would have gone a long way.

Sportsbook Features

Another area of importance for us as regular bettors are features. For this LeoVegas sport review we expected to see a lot more of the Cash Out and Bet Builder features throughout the LeoVegas sport Ireland sportsbook.

Navigation

The biggest overall niggle about the LeoVegas platform is the navigation – it’s very poor. It’s clunky and cumbersome to find your way around, basically frustratingly ‘clicky’ to get to where you want to go.

Statistics

Most of the markets we looked at in this LeoVegas sport review did come with handy stats.

That’s always useful and a nice touch. The stats open in external links, so they don’t get in the way of the sportsbook view.

Mobile Apps

A big positive about the LeoVegas sports betting experience is their mobile betting apps.

This gives you a much more user-friendly experience and we would recommend it over the main website.

It’s responsive, scrolls well and is much less frustrating to use.

Banking

We were happy enough with the banking options. The minimum deposit of €10 is average and as we tend to stick to debit cards, the banking was hassle-free, although e-wallets like PayPal and Apple Pay aren’t available.

LeoVegas Horse Racing

If you are looking for horse racing betting you will need to go elsewhere. We get that not all bookmakers offer it, but honestly it’s rare to find leading betting sites that don’t. If you don’t bet on horses then this won’t be an issue, of course.

Security, Licences and Regulations

LeoVegas is fully licensed to operate in Ireland. They are licensed by the Malta Gaming authority. They hold a Remote Operator licence for sports betting issued by the Irish Revenue Commissioner in 2017. So they are an established, legit, safe and regulated site for Irish punters.

LeoVegas Welcome Package

The qualifying bet for the LeoVegas sports welcome bonus has to be at minimum odds of 1/2 (1.5). The promotion must be claimed through the ‘My Offers’ page.

The LeoVegas sports bonus is credited as 3 x €10 free bets, which in our opinion is better than receiving the full lump sum as one bonus bet. Each of the €10 free bets has to be used in full and can’t be split into smaller stakes.

The qualifying bet has to be placed within seven days of the first deposit. When you receive the free bets, they have to be used within seven days too.

Deposits through Skrill or Neteller are not eligible for the offer. Note that a separate Casino welcome offer is available should you wish to venture down that road.

LeoVegas Best Features

Again the LeoVegas sportsbook is not as expansive as other online betting sites we’ve seen, but there are some aspects to appreciate.

There is decent market variety when you start dipping into major sports like Premier League football.

The variety of options like Shots on Target, Player Shots and a Bet Builder adds to the standard fare of things like Over/Under, HT/FT.

The individual match pages for events are easy to scroll through and click around. The issue is getting to the event pages in the first place due to their less-than-ideal navigation.

But the simplicity of the pre-match and in-play sports betting operation itself is a highlight of the LeoVegas experience.

We honestly barely noticed a difference between the two as everything looks just the same, aside from the in-play page showing a small infographic. Bet management is easy on the slip and the best way, to sum up, with multi-bet features, and it is just a user-friendly, no-frills sports betting platform that performs well without any real outstanding highlights.

LeoVegas Mobile App

There are LeoVegas mobile betting apps available for both iOS and Android. You will have to go hunting for them yourself because of a lack of direct links from the website.

For Android users, an install from an APK needs to be done. On your device, visit the LeoVegas website in a mobile browser and look for the downloadable file.

It’s easier for iOS users who can just grab it from the App Store. If you don’t want to use an app, you can use the mobile browser, but the betting apps are faster and can be locked, plus will receive automatic updates.

The LeoVegas app features both casino and sports betting in one. So it does take a little extra navigation.

But once in the right section for the sports, it’s a very good experience. The navigation for example is just much more straightforward than the main website.

Scrolling through a listing of markets is easy as the app is responsive. Picks slide over to the bet slip immediately and the slip handles all the multi-bet options well.

Overall, it’s a good functional app that just sits there and does its job well.

LeoVegas Banking

There are good banking options available at LeoVegas sport Ireland. You will need to verify your payment method for security purposes. That’s done by uploading a picture of your source to the customer support.

  • VISA/ Mastercard
  • Trustly
  • Skrill
  • Paysafe
  • MuchBetter
  • PayPal
  • Instant Bank Transfer
  • Neteller

The minimum deposit amount is €10. On the other side of the process, withdrawals can take up to 5 working days before you get your funds.

You can check the status of your withdrawal in your account. LeoVegas performs internal checks before approving a withdrawal request.

The minimum you can withdraw is €10 or €20 depending on your selected method. We found LeoVegas banking straightforward and hassle-free.

LeoVegas Customer Support

The ‘Support’ link on the main menu will get the help that’s available. There is also a Help Centre where you can enter search terms to find results.

If you can’t get the answers you need from that source, then you can contact LeoVegas by Live Chat, Message or email at [email protected]

Their live chat is monitored 24/7, but that doesn’t mean that you will always get straight to a representative and may have to wait for responses.
